Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Baking tray (for baking)

Ingredients

For the cramy chicken filling:

  • 2 Chicken breasts (Boneless and skin less)
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Green chilies
  • 2 tbsp Fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • Salt: to taste
  • 1 Egg
  • Sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup milk

For Assembling

  • 1 pack Puff pastry sheets
  • 1 Egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Boil the Chicken
In a pot, add the boneless chicken along with minced garlic, minced ginger, salt, black pepper, and a dash of soy sauce. Cover the pot with a lid and boil the chicken until it’s fully cooked and tender, usually taking about 10-15 minutes.
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the pot and allow them to cool. Once cooled, shred the chicken using two forks or your fingers. This will ensure the chicken is tender and easily incorporated into the filling.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Creamy Chicken Filling
We want to make a creamy white sauce for desi chicken patties. To make this in a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion to the melted butter and sauté until it turns translucent.
Now, add the shredded boiled chicken to the pan and fry until it starts to brown. Season the chicken with fresh coriander salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
To make a thick sauce, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour over the chicken and continue to fry for a minute.
Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously to form a creamy filling consistency. Cook the filling until it thickens and all the ingredients are well combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Step 3: Assemble the Patties
Take puff pastries and thaw them at room temperature. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a clean, floured surface. Using a knife or pastry cutter, divide the pastry into equal-sized squares or rectangles. Spoon a generous amount of the prepared chicken filling onto one-half of each pastry square or rectangle.
Carefully fold the other half of the pastry over the filling to create a triangle or rectangle shape, ensuring the edges meet. Use a fork to firmly press down on the edges, sealing the patties tightly to prevent any filling from leaking during cooking.
  • Step 4: Add Egg Wash and Sesame Seeds
Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) in preparation for baking the patties. Before baking, brush the tops of the assembled patties with beaten egg using a pastry brush.
This egg wash will give the pastry a shiny, golden finish once baked. Sprinkle sesame seeds generously over the egg-washed pastry, adding a delightful nutty flavor and crunchy texture to the finished patties.
You can also make a chicken puff pastry recipe in the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to the recommended temperature for pastry (usually around 375°F or 190°C).
  • Step 5: Bake Or Air Fry the Patties
Place the assembled Authentic Pakistani Chicken Patty on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are evenly spaced apart. Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the patties for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Keep an eye on them towards the end of the baking time to avoid over-browning.
  • Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Once baked to perfection, remove the patties from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Serve the Shredded Chicken Puff Pastry patties hot, either as a stand alone snack or accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce or green chutney.
Enjoy the delicious blend of tender shredded chicken encased in buttery, flaky pastry.

Notes
