Ingredients

  • 2 pounds grass-fed ground beef
  • 1.5 pounds bone-in ribeye cut into 2-inch chunks
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 32 ounces organic beef bone broth
  • Water as needed

Instructions

Stovetop (Dutch Oven) Method

  • Heat a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ribeye chunks and sear until browned on all sides (5–7 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
  • Add ground beef to the pot. Cook until browned (5–7 minutes), breaking it apart. Remove and set aside with the ribeye.
  • In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened (3–4 minutes).
  • Return all meat to the pot. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, and bone broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 2–3 hours until meat is tender.

Crockpot Method

  • If your crockpot has a sauté function, brown ribeye and ground beef directly in it. Otherwise, use a skillet, then transfer to the crockpot.
  • Add onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper to the crockpot. Stir to coat the meat.
  • Pour in bone broth (add water if needed to cover ingredients).
  • Cover and cook on Low for 8–10 hours or High for 5–6 hours, until meat is fall-apart tender.
