Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Doughnut cutter
  • Deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot

Ingredients

  • 3 CUP all-purpose flour
  • 2 TSP active dry yeast
  • 1/2 CUP sugar
  • 1 CUP whole milk
  • 1/4 CUP unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 TSP salt
  • TSP Vegetable oil
  • 2 CUP powdered sugar
  • 1/4 CUP whole milk
  • TSP vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Step 1: Activate the Yeast
Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients, then add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Stir until the dough comes together and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  • Step 3: Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Step 4: Cut the Doughnuts
Punch down the dough, roll it out to ½-inch thickness, and cut with a doughnut cutter. Let the doughnuts rest for 20-30 minutes.
  • Step 5: Heat the Oil and Fry
Heat oil to 350°F in a large pot or deep fryer. Fry the doughnuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Step 6: Make the Glaze
Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth and glossy.
  • Step 7: Glaze the Doughnuts
Dip the warm doughnuts into the glaze, ensuring they’re evenly coated. Place them on a wire rack to set.

Notes

  • Always monitor oil temperature for best results.
  • For variations, try chocolate or cinnamon sugar coatings.
