Small sandwiches are one of my favorite foods to serve at a party because they’re easy to grab, easy to arrange on a platter, and simple to make in different flavors.

This collection of small sandwich recipes for party appetizers work well for showers, brunches, birthdays, game day, and holiday gatherings.

There are plenty of make-ahead cold sandwiches, cheesy hot sliders, and finger sandwiches that can be mixed together on one party tray.

🥪 How Many Sandwiches Do You Need?

When sandwiches are one of several appetizers, plan 3 to 4 small pieces per guest. If they’re the main food, plan 6 to 8. One loaf of sandwich bread makes about 40 to 48 tea sandwich triangles, and a 12-pack of slider rolls serves about 6 people.

⏰ Make-Ahead Tips

Spread a thin layer of butter or cream cheese on the bread first to keep wet fillings from soaking in. Cold sandwiches can be made up to 4 hours ahead: cover with a slightly damp paper towel, then plastic wrap, and chill. Assemble slider pans the night before and bake right before guests arrive.
