🥩 Best Cuts of Beef for the Crockpot
Chuck roast is the best all-around cut. It turns fall-apart tender after hours of slow cooking. Stew meat, short ribs, brisket and round steak also work great. Save expensive tender cuts like tenderloin for the grill, since they dry out in a slow cooker. For ground beef recipes, browning first adds a lot of flavor.
⏰ Dump-and-Go Tips
Put sturdy vegetables like potatoes and carrots on the bottom so they cook through. Add dairy like sour cream and cream cheese in the last 30 minutes so it doesn’t curdle. Keep the lid closed, since every peek adds about 15 minutes of cooking time. Most of these can be assembled in the crock insert the night before and refrigerated.
