Some of the best Sunday dinners are the ones where everyone gets involved — and homemade pizza night is exactly that. This rustic Italian pizza dough is simple to make, wonderfully chewy, and the base for a Sunday tradition the whole family will look forward to every week.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 packet (7g) instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- Your favourite toppings: sauce, mozzarella, basil, toppings of choice
Instructions:
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then knead on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 475°F. Punch dough down and divide into 2 portions. Stretch each portion into a round or rustic shape on a floured surface.
- Add your toppings and bake directly on a hot baking sheet or pizza stone for 12–15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
